A new era of sustainability in the cockpit

And if the inside of vehicles was the route to a more sustainable future? At the crossroads of user experience and environmental impact, the cockpit represents a major opportunity to bring durable change to the automotive industry and beyond.

A lower carbon footprint

From materials to design, FORVIA integrates sustainability at every stage to minimize environmental impact and support the shift to low-carbon mobility, without compromising on quality, safety, or innovation.

Comfort, for all users

The overall experience of a vehicle largely depends on the level of comfort felt once inside. FORVIA is committed to ensuring and continuously improving interior comfort for end users.

An extended lifecycle

In the cockpit, we prioritize advanced modularity, paired with expertise in integrating sustainable materials and smart functionalities. This modular approach helps extend the lifecycle of the cockpit and its components.

Exceptional onboard experiences

Our interiors are designed for enhanced durability, sophistication, and user experience. FORVIA elevates the onboard environment with seamless design, sustainable materials, and refined textures that bring both style and well-being.

Cracking the code of sustainable cockpit innovation

Challenge 1

Innovating to lower CO₂ emissions

Materials designed for minimum emissions

Our goal is for our technologies to have the lowest carbon impact possible. To achieve this, FORVIA develops a wide range of materials, leveraging sustainable feedstocks including recycled and bio-based materials, plastic waste, and biomass like hemp and pineapple fibers. Through a strategic partnership, we have even manufactured green steel. Every material is carefully selected to strike the right balance between performance, design, and environmental impact.

Challenge 2

Where sustainability meets performance

Consistency, even in transition

When it comes to recycled or alternative feedstocks, unpredictability abounds – but our final products remain consistent and up to the highest industry standards. Leveraging AI, we ensure that our recycled-based materials match the reliability of virgin materials, while accelerating the development of new compounds through predictive formulation. Our solutions are continually evolving to maximize both performance and environmental benefits.

Challenge 3

Designing tomorrow’s interiors

Sustainable design excellence

Our material ranges are designed to meet high aesthetic standards while offering a premium look and feel. Whether aiming for refined surfaces or an intentional “recycled” look, FORVIA adapts to each OEM’s vision, combining design and sustainability.

Challenge 4

Reducing weight to enhance efficiency

Lightness with purpose

FORVIA aims to reduce the overall weight of all its products by 17%, thus contributing to improved vehicle energy efficiency and lower emissions during use. This weight reduction objective is integrated into the Group’s research and development processes.

Our industry-leading expertise

Over ten years of expertise driving sustainable innovation

For over a decade, FORVIA has been stepping up its R&D efforts and investing in low CO₂ emission materials. Today, these innovations are already featured in more than 10 million vehicles on the road.

A recognized commitment to decarbonisation

FORVIA was the first French company, and the first automotive company worldwide, to have its “net-zero emissions” target (scopes 1, 2 and 3) certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This commitment sets us on a path to achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.

Our featured technologies

NAFILean

A full range of biocomposite materials

Launched in 2013, NAFILean is a benchmark in low-carbon structural materials. Composed of 20% renewable hemp fibers, this lightweight material enables up to -90% reduction in CO₂ emissions. NAFILean is perfectly suited for structural interior parts such as dashboards and door panels.

Auraloop®

The pad combining comfort and responsibility

Auraloop® is a 100% recyclable padding solution made from polyester fibers. Offering enhanced performances in terms of thermal comfort and durability, Auraloop® aims to replace the polyurethane foam currently used in car seats, cutting their carbon footprint by half.
