Taking concrete action to optimize our site and measure its impact

At FORVIA, our CSR commitment extends to our website. The Eco Mode makes our site leaner and more efficient, reducing its environmental footprint — while ensuring a high-quality user experience.

What Actually Changes?

Eco Mode relies on several technical adjustments designed to optimize the site’s performance and reduce resource consumption.

Lightened Content

Images are compressed, slightly blurred, and saved in WebP format, while videos are disabled. The site becomes faster and less energy-intensive, while staying fully readable.

Reduced Visual Effects

Heavy animations and color gradients have been removed so that each page loads faster and consumes fewer resources.

Fewer External Requests

Some modules, such as the advanced search bar, social media post slider, and stock price feed, have been disabled to limit requests and streamline navigation.

Optimized Code

HTML and CSS have been cleaned up, removing unnecessary elements to improve performance and overall site efficiency.

A Leaner, Faster Experience

Together, these optimizations make the site lighter, faster, and more environmentally friendly, while ensuring an enjoyable browsing experience.

Measuring the Real-World Benefits of Eco Mode

How the Plugin Calculates Your Impact

Eco Mode not only makes FORVIA.com lighter and faster, it also helps quantify the environmental footprint of each visit.

Every time you browse, the plugin measures the amount of data transferred during your session and translates it into CO₂ emissions using EU averages: 0.8 kWh per GB of data transferred, with 255 g CO₂ per kWh.

Putting It Into Perspective

To make these numbers tangible, we convert CO₂ emissions into everyday equivalents:
Driving a gas-powered car: 1 g CO₂ ≈ 7.2 meters
Using a 10W LED bulb: 1 g CO₂ ≈ 23.5 minutes

For instance, visiting the homepage in Eco Mode transfers just 1.3 MB of data compared to 7.4 MB in normal mode — a clear reduction in CO₂ emissions per visit. These calculations allow you to see how small changes in digital behavior can add up to a real-world environmental impact.

Our Commitment in Action

At FORVIA, we frame everything through the lens of sustainability. We are committed to achieving carbon neutrality in scopes 1 and 2 by 2025 and reaching net zero across our entire value chain by 2045. The low-carbon mode of our website is just one small piece of a holistic approach to reducing carbon emissions. It perfectly reflects our Blue Effect philosophy: small changes can have a big impact.
