Women in Engineering at FORVIA: the power of impact

At FORVIA, we not only support women in engineering, we build with them, we grow with them, and we move forward together.
Being an engineer in FORVIA means more than solving problems, it’s about designing sustainable solutions for millions of lives. And our female engineers are at the forefront of that mission. Whether developing smart materials, optimizing energy systems or building the cockpit experience of the future, they lead with both precision and purpose.
Today, we give voice to two female engineers at FORVIA. Women like Lydie and Jie show that engineering impact is not just technical, it’s cultural, human and strategic.
Lydie DE OLIVEIRA – Senior Software Design Leader, FORVIA Clarion Electronics, France
In the heart of Paris, Lydie led the development of a fully integrated infotainment system for several brands of a major OEM. Over three years, she coordinated 90 engineers across France and India to deliver a system now in production, certified Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on first attempt.
“When I see one of these new-generation vehicles on the road, I feel nothing but pride. It’s as if a part of us is out there, in the hands of everyday drivers.”

YANG Jie - Senior Engineering Manager of the Seating Design Office & Acquisition Manager, and Satefy Regulation Expert, China
In Shanghai, YANG Jie spearheaded the co-creation of a breakthrough safety innovation, unveiled at the Shanghai Autoshow. Built across borders, her project passed testing and FEA (Finite Element Analysis – a technique used to analyse and predict how materials respond to physical forces), and is now ready for Request for Quote.
“It wasn’t just engineered, it was co-created. Across borders, with our partners, with purpose.”

Engineering the future starts with equity
The path to impact isn’t always equal. Across the engineering industry, structural gaps persist. In some OECD countries, women make up only 20% of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)*. At FORVIA, they represent 23% of our global R&D and industrial community, and their contributions are not exceptions, they are essential.
"Engineering needs all forms of intelligence. By giving every kind of diversity, including women, their rightful place, we expand our ability to innovate, understand, and transform through perspectives that are both different and complementary." — Monique Danielou, Group R&D Transformation Vice President
Because when equity is built into the system, impact isn’t just possible, it becomes unstoppable.
