FORVIA’s “Cockpit UX Engine” wins two global innovation awards
FORVIA, a global leader in automotive technologies and sustainable mobility solutions, has been honored with the German Innovation Award 2025 in the category “Excellence in Business to Business – Automotive Technologies”. This award celebrates the innovative “Cockpit UX Engine”, a software platform that enhances vehicle safety and comfort by leveraging the Driver Monitoring System (DMS), reducing driver distraction and improving focus. This innovation was also awarded with the “China Automotive and Parts Industry Development Innovation Award” at the end of 2024.
Since July 2024, new vehicles in Europe are required to be equipped with a DMS camera. The Cockpit UX Engine is a software platform that uses this DMS camera to provide three key features enhancing safety, personalization, and comfort, without needing costly new hardware:
Gaze and Select (GaS): Enables drivers to interact with vehicle displays using a combination of gaze and physical switches, thereby reducing cognitive load and distraction, and enhancing safety.
Infrared video colorization: AI-based software to convert infrared video images into color content, for use in video conferencing and other similar applications.
Cockpit customization based on driver stress and emotions: Personalized functions and services based on the driver's stress levels and emotions, allowing features such as cockpit LED lighting, music, and voice assistants to automatically respond to the driver's mood, thus mitigating driving fatigue.

The “German Innovation Award” recognizes products, projects and pioneering achievements that sustainably improve life through innovation and progress. Similarly, the "2024 China Automotive and Parts Industry Development Innovation Award" by Automobile & Parts acknowledges innovative technologies, leading companies, outstanding teams, and influential figures in the automotive sector.
These recognitions are significant to FORVIA following a successful Auto Shanghai Show, where it unveiled state-of-the-art innovations lauded in the global market.
