Within FORVIA, every function contributes to reducing our environmental footprint. This collective effort is what we call the Blue Effect, a growing impact created through practical actions taken by teams throughout the Group. From product development to logistics, supply chain, daily operations, and more, each area plays a role in making measurable progress.

This edition focuses on the environmental footprint of our plants. To reduce this footprint, we apply structured initiatives that target energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation and biodiversity protection.

A key part of our approach is how we develop and manage our sites. We prioritize brownfield redevelopment – repurposing previously used land – to avoid using greenfield and help protect agricultural land and natural ecosystems. Every project begins with thorough environmental due diligence, including audits and biodiversity assessments, which help us understand risks and define the right actions.

Our Green Factory White Book guides how we design and build responsible sites. It contains a set of principles that support our goal of earning sustainability certifications like BREEAM and LEED, which evaluate overall site sustainability. Currently, 22 of our sites worldwide are green certified or are being certified. Earning these certifications demonstrates that our sites meet high sustainable construction and operations standards.

But our ambition goes even beyond. As the first step in our Net Zero journey, we are targeting at least an 80% reduction in scopes 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions by 2025. Already in 2024, FORVIA achieved a 67% reduction in these scopes compared to 2019, ahead of its commitments. In addition to this milestone, we’re committed to zero waste, zero air and soil pollution, and minimal impact on biodiversity. To make this vision a reality, we’ve integrated a set of concrete environmental practices, called the 10 Green Fundamentals, into our FORVIA Excellence System — the operational framework we use across all our sites. These fundamentals provide our teams with clear, practical tools to save resources, improve manufacturing and respect surrounding ecosystems. In parallel, we are working to improve the environmental performance of our supply chain by optimizing transportation strategies — from route design to truck fill rates.

Across FORVIA, operations teams are key drivers of this change. The Blue Effect program empowers every employee, in every role and location, to contribute. Like the butterfly effect, these combined individual actions accelerate the sustainable transformation of our Group
